MULTIPLE ME SPOUTING OFF
Yesterday (March 5) was MULTIPLE PERSONALITY DAY, but I didn’t write a post because my multiple personalities couldn’t agree on which of them should write it. Now comes March 6 and they still can’t make up my mind, so to bring this matter to a head, you will have to settle for a tale — a whale of a tale, no less — and not much more.
Actually, there is more — if you’d like to know more about whales — but it’s on film, so you will be spared whatever might have written by me if we weren’t fighting among myself for post time.
Next time, you may not be so lucky. We shall sea.

I had a friend named Paula. She would sleep on my couch when she visited town. I also had a book about whales. Paula would all but impolitely demand that I read her to sleep each night from the book about whales. She was endearing like that, and it was fun.

Paula sounds like a real doll-a, if you’ll pardon a pun-a.

Kirk Douglas was okay… but Peter Lorre!

To me, Peter Lorre was one of the most fascinating actors in movie history. Though he was primarily ‘just’ a character actor, it’s hard to picture such films as THE MALTESE FALCON and ARSENIC AND OLD LACE being as magical with anyone but him in those roles.

Shame that the multiples didn’t just write a play together.

Or, even better, a song — something along these lines:

It’s not letting me watch anything – says the link doesn’t work. Could you try again?

Sorry the link (to a 1946 song called PERSONALITY) doesn’t work. Here’s a later song of the same title:

Sorry, I haven’t seen it (though I notice movie critic Leonard Maltin doesn’t think much of it). But, since the film title is a play on ME, MYSELF AND I, here’s a multiple personality song that fits the bill:

It is a riff on multiple personalities, not a great film.

I love Kirk Douglas in this movie and in this scene. So glad you posted it – a terrific way to start the day.
Also, thanks for sharing the video about whales. I realized that I know very little about whales. They are truly remarkable creatures.

Sometimes things just fall into place, SS. I was looking for a way to finish this post, and just happened upon that interesting and informative whales video….so it was a treat for me too.

I’ve published a post or two in the past featuring actors singing who few knew could sing (such as Errol Flynn and Jimmy Stewart). With this post, Kirk Douglas (in a clip from the film 20,000 LEAGUES UNDER THE SEA) can be added to the list.

We can’t thank you enough, Moorezart. (Well, maybe I could, but can I help it if my other personalities are ungrateful killjoys?) 😦

Way to go, Kirk Douglas! Though he was in “20,000 Leagues Under the Sea,” he’s still not ready to be six feet under the ground.

Good morning. That is very true! He is “all of the men” of his starred roles. I suppose that’s what keeps him…
