IT’S THAT TIME AGAIN
Perhaps you have noticed a recent commercial on TV for a product called Crepe Erase, featuring actress Jane Seymour. Normally, I wouldn’t give the commercial the time of day, but something about her struck a chord….and then I remembered: she co-starred (with Christopher Reeve) forty-two years ago in a film I’m almost embarrassed to admit I liked very much at the time (and perhaps still would if I saw it again):
The reason I say “almost embarrassed” is not so much that it received mostly poor reviews, but it’s what some people would dismiss as a sappy romance (film critic Leonard Maltin called it a “superficial tearjerker”). So call me a sucker for sappy romances — which I ordinarily am not — but in this case, I fell for it….and so I plead guilty.
For the next offering in this sequel to my previous post (IT’S ABOUT TIME), I’m taking a cue-pid from SOMEWHERE IN TIME to deliver one of the most romantic old Time songs in my quiver:
And now, not wanting to push love beyond its limits, I’ll take leave. I hate to say goodbye, because….

I have to laugh at that commercial. It looks like Jane has had a little work done. I’m guessing it isn’t only crepe erase that keeps her looking younger than 71.

I’ve had a lot of work done on my face, but it’s all been done by Mother Nature and Father Time. They work together so well — such a romantic pair! 😉

SOMEWHERE IN TIME also has gorgeous scenery (Mackinac Island and its grand old Grand Hotel), so it’s worth a view on that score alone. I’ve been there, so I can vouch that it’s also worth the trip.

Very nostalgic, Mister Muse. I love sappy romances and would love to watch “Somewhere in Time.”

That’s one of my wife’s favorite movies of all time. It never spoke to me, but she really loves it. I always enjoyed Tony Bennet’s simple version of “Time After Time” on his tribute album to Frank.

Tony Bennett has had such a long career, he’s an institution! He’s not my favorite male vocalist, but then, no male is my favorite vocalist of all time. It’s Ella Fitzgerald, the First Lady of Song.

Two greats for sure. Tony is my all time favorite. He greeted my mother, “Hiya, Hon” once. 😆

I vaguely remembered that movie and then looked at the YouTube excerpts. Jane certainly didn’t age the way her character did. I guess that’s what happens if you have to time leap and forget to bring your Erase along. Those people lived rough.

Who says you can’t defy time? I still look like I did 40 minutes ago (which, I grant you, is nothing to brag about)! 😉

Yes, I enjoy a time travel movie or book myself- and a good soundtrack helps too.

I agree. I think the soundtrack to SOMEWHERE IN TIME is a big plus in putting the movie over.

Loved the movie and music. Commercial not so much! Cream won’t get rid of crepe skin, moisturizes it at best.

I wonder if it works on CREEPY skin? If so, I can think of several right-wing politicians who could use it. 😉

Somewhere In Time came out about the time I met my future wife. We both loved it then, and definitely would give it another watch if we weren’t already watching a million other things. Seeing this post brought back some really good memories. Thanks for sharing.
