Style and substance,
Don’t you know,
Come to reaping
What you sow.

When your style is
Sow abstruse,
Then your substance
Reaps abuse.

So, see hear, say
What you mean —
Say it sew it’s
What it seam.

    Mighty punny.

Also mighty strange – the title, that is….or rather, strange that the title came to me today. I wrote this poem some time ago, but didn’t like the title I’d chosen. Thinking about a new title, I recalled a novel by Thomas Hardy called JUDE THE OBSCURE, which seemed to fit here when wordplayed into MUSE THE OBSCURE. The strange part is that after posting the poem, I found that Thomas Hardy died on this day, Jan. 11 (in 1928).

Sew it isn’t sew Muse. Sew it isn’t sew.

Which reminds me why the dutiful nun became a seamstress: God told her sew.
